THE TAMARA DI TELLA METHOD: IN WHAT WAYS DOES IT DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL PILATES?
Muscle strength, flexibility, posture, self-confidence. This is what Tango is all about, but what is the difference with traditional Pilates? Well, for one, Joseph Pilates came almost one hundred years later than Tango. That’s for starters. There are other differences. Joseph Pilates was a German-born bodybuilder, boxer, and gymnast, who first developed these movements while working as an army nurse during World War I, teaching injured soldiers to stretch and strengthen their muscles.
Tamara Di Tella is an Argentine-born, Stanford Ph.D. candidate and Pilates Studios’ owner, who first developed Tangolates movements while working as a volunteer at a public hospital in Buenos Aires, teaching patients with motor disorders to control their movements, and recover their posture.
Since she started working with patients in the year 2004, she created equipment - the DI TELLA Apparatus - that is used today by clients of all ages and walks of life. Tamara even wrote a book that shows how her exercises can be done on the floor without the DI TELLA Apparatus, just a mat or a towel. Even though professionals prefer to impart their classes on the Apparatus, some people, who aren’t professionals, give it a try at home and love it. The reason is simple: the Tamara Di Tella Method works.

QUESTION; How would you define yourself as a team leader?
ANSWER: As a team leader? I'm terrible!. I am absolutely unbearable. I do not stand myself. I am incapable of taking “NO” for an answer; I know no limits; I do not know what the word holyday means (nor do I want to know); long weekends exasperate me; the very idea of an obstacle in my way make me as furious as Jupiter’s thunder. But, aside from that, I am a good person and the people who work for me know that. So they put up with my eccentricities.
QUESTION: You do different things all at the same time. How do you manage to be a journalist, write books, be president of a chain of gyms, create new method. Do you delegate?
ANSWER: What I cannot delegate is what I create. Nor what I write. To write or to create new products I am on my own. Whether a new method of exercise, or new books, articles, or notes, such as, for example, this one, I do by myself. Nobody can do this for me. Do you think someone, other than myself, could be answering your questions right now?

ANSWER: They are all young people eager to learn. I value the unconditional support. This is the most important thing. Everything else you can learn.
QUESTION: And how do you manage different teams in different countries?
ANSWER: It is something that went well, and in all truth, this is not easy because we are talking about different personalities and approaches. But fortunately most of us get along very well, my franchises and me. I think I was lucky in this regard.
